Sarah Rowland
Sarah graduated from VCU with honors, studying graphic design under the keen eye of Phil Megs. From there, Sarah spent a year in Tokyo and then settled in Manhattan working for some of the best graphic design studios in the world. Along the way, Sarah fell more and more in love with textile design, a discipline she was drawn to throughout her travels, but also when helping her mother Suzie create one-a-kind pieces in the family-owned pottery in North Carolina. Sarah then spent three months in London studying textile design and printmaking at The Royal College of Art. This experience only served to inspire Sarah even more, until eventually, she started her own textile practice six years ago.
From her home studio along the banks of the James River, Sarah crafts hand-drawn, bespoke wall coverings inspired by the natural world around here. As Sarah likes to say “I live and breathe pattern, color and the natural world. Mother Nature gives me so many design ideas.” Sarah’s textile design can be found in residential and commercial settings across the United States.
